American Idol S7 12 Men Finalist Recap

Robbie Carrico – “One” – great vocal, comfortable performance – Randy said nice version – Paula said perfect song for you – Simon said only current performance, but questions is he rock or pop.

David Archuleta – “Shop Around” – accomplished singer for his age, fun performance – Randy said brilliant, loved it – Paula said brave and bold choice – Simon said when you’ve got it you’ve got it, best performance of the night.

Jason Castro – “Daydream” – accompanied himself with guitar, great vocal, entertaining – Randy said interesting, ‘ahright’, little pitch problem – Paula said blew me away, effortless – Simon said in the top two performances of the night, you’ve got it, terrific.

David Cook – “Happy Together” – really modernized the song, loved the rock edge, good stage presence – Randy said worked it out, crazy – Paula said rocked it, made it original - Simon said good, shouted a little in the middle.

David Hernandez – “Midnight Hour” – nice tone, ending a little iffy, seemed a little nervous needs to work on stage presence – Randy said ‘ahright’ – Paula said good job – Simon said better than he thought he would be.

Michael Johns – “Light my Fire” – good, but much preferred “Bohemian Rhapsody”, good performance quality – Randy said sang great, you are the bomb, hot – Paula said set everyone on fire – Simon said most consistent of contestants, natural charisma of a lead singer.

Colton Berry – “Suspicious Minds” – nicely done, he was trying to not ‘over perform’ – Randy said pretty good – Paula said not your best, but eager and fun – Simon said ok, didn’t represent himself, looking for a recording artist.

Garrett Haley – “Breaking Up is Hard to Do” – nice voice, sweet & soft ballad – Randy said don’t be afraid to make song your own – Paula said be comfortable to change up songs – Simon said boring, looked terrified.

Jason Yeager – “Moon River” – beautiful voice, not sure he’s a pop star – Randy said couple problems ‘pitchwise’ – Paula said she agrees with Randy – Simon said cruise ship performance, came off as old.

Luke Menard – “Everybody’s Talking” – has a nice voice, but performance missed the mark – Randy said pitchy, consistently sharp – Paula said bad song choice – Simon said forgettable.

Danny Noriega – “Jailhouse Rock” – disappointing, did not show his singing ability – Randy said vocal ok, kind of hot – Paula said warm, safe – Simon said verging on grotesque.

Chikezie Eze – “Love You More Today than Yesterday” – seemed to sing under most of the notes, just ok – Randy said pretty good – Paula said throwback to great R&B – Simon said hated the whole performance, old fashioned.

Is it just me or have we all had enough of the uncomfortable bickering among the judges?

Looking forward to what the girls will bring from the 1960s Wednesday night on Fox.
